About the Role
Our client are seeking an experienced Senior Geologist to join a groundbreaking exploration project offshore Sarawak. This is a 2-year contract position involving significant hydrocarbon exploration activities. The role is part of a collaborative effort with major international and local partners under Malaysia’s energy sector initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Exploration Planning and Execution:
- Lead geological evaluations and formulate exploration strategies for blocks governed by PSC agreements, focusing on Sarawak's offshore hydrocarbon potential.
- Support seismic survey planning, interpretation, and identification of drillable prospects.
Data Analysis and Integration:
- Analyze and interpret subsurface data using geological, geophysical, and petrophysical techniques.
- Develop integrated models to assess resource potential and guide exploration decisions.
Stakeholder Engagement:
- Collaborate with project partners and regulatory bodies to align exploration strategies and ensure compliance with industry regulations.
- Prepare and deliver reports and presentations to stakeholders and management.
Sustainability and Innovation:
- Integrate sustainable exploration practices, aligning with low-carbon energy goals.
- Explore emerging technologies such as Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) for application in upstream activities.
Mentorship and Leadership:
- Provide technical guidance to junior geologists and foster a collaborative team environment.
Qualifications
Education:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Geology, Geophysics, or related field.
Experience:
- At least 10 years of experience in oil and gas exploration, including expertise in PSC environments.
- Demonstrated knowledge of Sarawak Basin geology and petroleum systems.
Skills:
- Advanced proficiency in geological modeling and seismic interpretation software (e.g., Petrel).
- Excellent problem-solving, decision-making, and communication skills.
- Strong ability to work in multidisciplinary teams.
