Role Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Chief Senior Geologist to lead exploration activities for a prominent energy company’s offshore operations in Sarawak, Malaysia. This role requires expertise in Production Sharing Contracts (PSC) and water-based geological exploration, with a focus on hydrocarbon discoveries. The successful candidate will work closely with multidisciplinary teams to support the company’s exploration objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Exploration Leadership: Oversee and manage geological aspects of exploration programs, focusing on offshore blocks in Sarawak.
- PSC Management: Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure compliance with Malaysia’s PSC terms and conditions.
- Geological Analysis: Conduct detailed seismic interpretation, basin modeling, and prospect evaluation to identify potential drilling opportunities.
- Water-Based Exploration Expertise: Develop and implement methodologies tailored to offshore, water-based exploration in challenging environments.
- Data Integration: Utilize well data, seismic surveys, and other geophysical data to generate accurate subsurface models.
- Collaboration: Work closely with geophysicists, reservoir engineers, and other specialists to align exploration strategies with broader project goals.
- Reporting and Compliance: Prepare technical reports and presentations for internal stakeholders and regulatory authorities, ensuring all exploration activities meet environmental and safety standards.
Qualifications and Experience
- Minimum of 15 years of experience in geology, with a significant focus on offshore oil and gas exploration.
- Proven expertise in PSC management, particularly in Malaysia.
- Strong technical background in seismic interpretation, basin analysis, and prospect generation.
- Experience working on offshore exploration projects in Sarawak or similar environments.
- Familiarity with water-based exploration techniques and challenges.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to mentor junior team members.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Geology, Geophysics, or a related field.
