Job Summary:
We are looking for a Senior Cost Engineer with more than 7 years of experience to join our onshore brownfield gas development project in South Sumatra, Indonesia, set to begin in January 2025. The ideal candidate will have offshore and design experience, along with a strong background in cost management and control. This role offers a long-term direct contract opportunity with our end client.
Job Responsibilities:
- Develop and manage the project cost estimates, budget, and cash flow projections for the onshore brownfield gas development project.
- Monitor and control project costs, ensuring they are within budget and aligned with project scope and deliverables.
- Review and evaluate project cost reports, identifying areas of concern or potential cost overruns and implementing corrective actions.
- Provide cost forecasts and perform cost variance analysis to track project performance against budget.
- Support the project team in identifying and managing cost risks throughout the project lifecycle.
- Work closely with project managers, procurement, and engineering teams to ensure accurate and timely cost reporting.
- Review contracts, change orders, and variations to assess their impact on the overall project cost.
- Ensure accurate and timely billing for the project, including the management of invoices and payment schedules.
- Prepare cost reports and financial updates for senior management and stakeholders, ensuring transparency in cost management.
- Conduct cost analysis and benchmarking to ensure efficient use of resources and optimize project costs.
- Establish and enforce cost control procedures, systems, and tools for accurate tracking and reporting.
- Review and approve the work of junior cost engineers, providing guidance and mentoring as needed.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards, regulations, and client requirements in all cost management activities.
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Finance, or a related field.
- More than 7 years of experience in cost engineering, with significant experience in both onshore and offshore projects.
- Strong background in cost estimation, budgeting, and cost control, particularly in brownfield gas development projects.
- Proficient in cost management software and tools such as Primavera P6, CostX, or similar.
- Experience in managing project costs throughout the entire project lifecycle, from design to execution and close-out.
- Deep understanding of contract management and financial documentation related to energy projects.
- Ability to analyze and interpret cost data, producing detailed reports and forecasts.
- Experience working with multidisciplinary teams and external contractors/vendors.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage and resolve complex cost-related issues in a fast-paced environment.
- Willingness to relocate and be based in South Sumatra, Indonesia for the duration of the project.
