Job Summary:
We are seeking a Technical Safety Engineer with more than 7 years of experience to join our onshore brownfield gas development project in South Sumatra, Indonesia, starting in January 2025. The ideal candidate will have experience in offshore and onshore safety systems, as well as a strong background in safety design and engineering for gas development projects. This will be a direct contract with our end client, and while the project is expected to be long-term, the duration of the contract will be confirmed soon.
Job Responsibilities:
- Lead the technical safety engineering activities for the onshore brownfield gas development project, ensuring compliance with all safety regulations and standards.
- Develop and implement safety-related engineering solutions and strategies throughout the project lifecycle, from design to commissioning.
- Conduct hazard identification (HAZID), hazard and operability (HAZOP), and risk assessments to ensure safety management systems are integrated into project design.
- Review and approve safety systems designs, ensuring compliance with international safety standards and local regulations.
- Provide technical safety support for the design, construction, and operation of safety critical systems, including fire and gas detection systems, emergency shutdown systems, and safety instrumented systems (SIS).
- Liaise with other engineering disciplines to ensure safety requirements are properly incorporated into the project’s design and execution plans.
- Conduct safety audits and reviews to assess the effectiveness of implemented safety systems and practices.
- Ensure that the project meets all safety and environmental regulations and that safety performance meets or exceeds industry best practices.
- Develop and provide training on safety procedures, emergency response, and risk management to project teams and stakeholders.
- Advise the project team on technical safety challenges and provide solutions to mitigate risks.
- Review and approve safety documentation, including safety reports, procedures, and design specifications.
- Collaborate with contractors, clients, and other stakeholders to ensure alignment on safety protocols and design specifications.
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Mechanical, Safety Engineering, or a related field.
- More than 7 years of experience in technical safety engineering, with at least 5 years in offshore and onshore gas development projects.
- Extensive experience in safety system design, risk assessments, and safety management for brownfield and offshore projects.
- Knowledge of international safety standards (e.g., ISO 45001, IEC 61508, API, NFPA) and local regulatory requirements.
- Strong experience with safety analysis tools (e.g., FMEA, FTA, SIL calculations, QRA).
- Expertise in fire and gas systems, emergency shutdown systems, and safety instrumented systems (SIS).
- Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to safety risk management.
- Ability to handle complex safety issues and make decisions based on technical safety data.
- In-depth knowledge of HSE regulations and safety practices in the oil and gas industry.
- Willingness to be based in South Sumatra, Indonesia, for the duration of the project.
